OTHER DETAILS & INFORMATION:

HELMET POLICY
To prioritize the health and safety of your children, we have implemented a new policy: no more sharing helmets! Each camper will be assigned with their own helmet for the duration of the week. To cover the cost of the helmet rental, and to ensure accountability, there will be a non-refundable rental fee of $15 per helmet for the week. Every helmet will be labelled with the camper’s name, and the camper will be responsible for its care throughout the week.

For families attending multiple weeks of camp or looking to make a long term investment, we offer brand-new certified helmets for sale on-site for $150 including taxes. Please note that bike helmets are not suitable for camp activities. ASTM certified helmets are required as they protect the back of the head, such as a skateboarding or skiing helmet.

REGISTRATION DETAILS
Camp runs from 9AM to 4PM. Early drop-off and late pick-up are available for an additional charge. Please fill in the registration form and send it to us with a $125 deposit per week registered. The remaining balance is due the week prior to the beginning of camp. LATE fees could be applied. As soon as we enter your form into the computer, you will receive an email with a copy of the invoice in a PDF file. If you require additional receipt for your camp payment, please send a request email to info@horsebackadventures.ca that includes your child’s name and the week that you are attending.

If you are receiving alternate resources funding, we can create an invoice that reflects the 2 parties involved (i.e invoice to you and billed to the funding agency). We must have their full contact information including phone number and email.

If you are coordinating with another camper’s family to attend a specific week, please contact the office directly to ensure there is space in your desired week. Horse Camp fills up 4-8 weeks after registration opens, and once a week is full, we cannot guarantee that additional requests will be accommodated.

HORSES & RIDING
At Conestogo River Horseback Adventures, we value safety as much as fun! Our camp counsellors are dedicated to fostering a secure environment that emphasizes learning, excitement, and respect for both our peers and animals. Our counsellors ensure that every child feels valued and supported. Our accomplished instructors are eager to answer questions and provide assistance to our young riders!

Led by experienced riding instructors, our camp offers dynamic itinerary packed with equine adventures! From Daily rides to hands-on grooming sessions, there is an activity for every camper. With this being said, daily riding is a favourite part of each camper’s experience. Children receive individual attention aimed at their personal ability level, and participate in group rides where they learn by watching and helping others. With a staff-to-camper ratio of 1:5 during riding sessions, we ensure personalized attention and guidance for each camper. In addition, we also have experienced non-staff assistance to further guide our campers.

With riding a horse comes responsibility! Campers are responsible for grooming and saddling their horses. Horse theory is taught daily. This reviews topics such as what horses eat, how to tell if a horse is sick, how to look after your own horse, and movements of the horse. The staff at Conestogo River Horseback Adventures will show your child the unique and beautiful relationship between horse and rider. We strive to give children the confidence and self-esteem that comes from riding and handling horses with thoughtfulness and respect.

RAINY DAY PROTOCOL
Summer camps run throughout the summer, from Monday to Friday. We have so many perfect sunny days, however we know that the weather does not always cooperate with our outdoor plans. If we have a rainy day, we are prepared to continue our amazing camp activities indoors!

Horse Camp will continue riding lessons in our fully sheltered arena. There is still so much to do when it’s rainy outside! The rest of their day will be focused around indoor games and challenges, horse-themed crafts, bonding activities, grooming, and horse theory. We at CRHBA know that rain or shine, our fun and interesting activities will keep campers excited, engaged, and happy all day!

OTHER ACTIVITIES
Crafts are a much loved part of every day. They change daily and range from friendship bracelets to share with new camp friends, frames for a picture of their favourite horse, stamps, fun foam, leather crafting key chains, etc! Supplies are included in the camp fee. If we are doing tie dye, we may ask for items contributed.

Games feature both on and off horse games to keep children interested and entertained. Children participate in games such as Red Light-Green Light, and obstacle courses that get more challenging as the week goes on. Sign your child up for our Equestrian camp and allow them to express themselves through our endless crafts and activities!

SAFETY
Any person under the age of 18 is not permitted on a horse without proper certified headgear! Helmets are provided by Conestogo River Horseback Adventures for a fee if they don’t have their own.

Families must supply their own footwear with a 1/2 to 1 inch heel like a hiking boot or rubber boot-or your local equestrian tack shop will have riding boots and helmets, and long pants. NO sandals please around the horses! Only closed-toe footwear permitted to protect little toes! Children are never left unsupervised with horses and precautions are taken to make sure everyone has fun without getting hurt!

Please note that it is required to pack both riding clothes and non-riding clothes. The kids do get dirty so do not pack them with anything too precious! We encourage parents to pack additional water and snacks as you see fit!
